The Thread That Connects Everything - Linara

This Women's History Month, we're celebrating the theme Leading the Change: Women Shaping a Sustainable Future, and I want to start with something that might seem small: a thread.

A single thread doesn't look like much. But woven together with others, it becomes something that holds, something that endures, something that tells a story. Women have understood this truth for centuries — not just literally, in the textiles and tapestries that chronicled entire civilizations, but figuratively, in the way we've always worked. Gathering information from every corner of a room. Sensing the connection between what someone said and what they meant. Weaving together the emotional, the practical, and the strategic into decisions that hold up over time.

That instinct, to find the thread, follow it, and weave it into something coherent, is exactly what our newest product is built to do.

Linara: Where it Begins

Linara comes from the Latin linea: the thread, the line, the connection. Just as individual threads gain strength when woven together, isolated insights gain power through integration. Linara doesn't just add more data. It reveals the essential connections that transform fragmentation into strategy, and complexity into clarity.

That's a deceptively simple idea with profound implications. Most organizations today aren't lacking for research. They're drowning in it: segmentation studies here, brand tracking there, customer experience data somewhere else entirely. None of it talks to the rest. Research shows that teams spend up to 70% of their time gathering and organizing information rather than analyzing it,1 let alone actioning on it. So, while the knowledge exists, the connections don't.

What happens? Teams default to gut instinct, opinion-driven debate, or attempt to recall the last slide from the last presentation they attended. Linara was built for exactly this moment. It's an AI-powered integrated intelligence platform that weaves a client's proprietary research into always-on decision support, alive, conversational, and grounded in the real customers and competitive realities of their specific business.

The First Thread: Linara Personas

Linara's first capability, Linara Personas, transforms segmentation from a static framework into an active, ongoing dialogue. Instead of a report that gets used once and filed away, teams have a conversational interface into the intelligence they already own, available any time new questions surface.

This matters more than it might seem. McKinsey research shows that companies with strong customer segmentation strategies achieve revenue growth up to 10% higher than those without,2 yet most segmentation work loses organizational momentum within months of delivery. The insight depreciates not because it's wrong, but because it goes dark. Linara keeps it lit.

With Linara Personas, clients can explore who each persona truly is and what drives them, stress-test messaging and new concepts against specific segments and think differently about where and how to invest resources.

Women Have Always Known How to Weave

There's a reason the threading metaphor resonates so deeply this month. Long before data integration was a business problem, women were the ones holding complexity together. They were the community historians, the family connectors, the leaders who synthesized the emotional and the practical into decisions that sustained households, movements, and entire societies.

The women we celebrate this month, the scientists, executives, activists, and builders, weren't just smart in isolation. They were integrative thinkers. They saw what others missed because they were paying attention to the connections, not just the individual facts. A Gallup survey of more than 11,000 workers found that women leaders are significantly more likely to build environments where diverse perspectives inform better outcomes3. That capacity to find meaning in the space between things is precisely what great intelligence work requires.

Innovation with Integrity

In a market flooded with generic AI tools trained on public data, Linara takes a different path. It's built on each client's proprietary insights, shaped by their specific context, and grounded in the data integrity and human expertise that have always defined our work. At The Directions Group, AI amplifies human intelligence; it doesn't replace it. When a question goes beyond what Linara can answer, our team steps in. That's not a limitation. That's the design.

This is a sustainable model because it's built on something real. On rigor. On connection. On the belief that the right insight, in the right hands, at the right moment, changes everything.

As we celebrate the women who led change by weaving together what others left fragmented, I'm proud that our contribution to that legacy is a product named for the thread itself. Linara is live, and the weaving has begun.
